A Mirror to the Past and a Vision to the Future

Our school is rich in tradition and community involvement and I am proud to be part of this school. As the Principal, I am positive to have done my best to maintain the essence that makes this school great and at the same time, introduced new ideas and programs that were aimed at taking the school into the 21st Century. The world around us is changing but that does not mean we have to abandon old values that have helped create the wonderful environment that is established at Arab Unity School.
In the years to come we would continue to stress the quality within our school and at the same time, reinvigorate the academics, fine arts, elective and extra-curricular activities. This cannot be done by just one person; it is the culmination of quality work by students, staff, parents, and the community. We have chartered few strategies, modified and tailored to enhance the teaching learning process at Arab Unity School. Also, providing a connected and forward-looking curriculum which develops 21st century competencies and produces value-added outcomes, is yet another focus. We plan to nurture morally upright and socially responsible students through holistic approaches.
I would like to conclude quoting a famous author who wrote: “I settled on a game called 'I am a contribution.” Unlike success and failure, contribution has no other side. “How will I be a contribution today?... In the game of contribution, you wake up each day and bask in the notion that you are a gift to others”. Such a perspective has great value as it allows us to not worry about measuring up to others' standards, and at the same time appreciate everyone around us as a gift to us. As we continue our journey towards excellence. It is my hope and desire that each of us, in Arab Unity School community will be a gift and contribution to others. It is when we truly empower ourselves that we can transform our future.

uzma@arabunityschool.com

I hold a Bachelor Degree, with Education as my major. I started my career as a Kindergarten Class-room teacher in 1995 in Pakistan and was shortly promoted to KG in-charge.
I moved to Dubai in 1997 and worked as Foundation Stage teacher for 7 years before taking up the position of Head of the Foundation Stage.
My administrative experience is of three years in Pakistan and three years in Dubai.
My work-role includes designing, reviewing, implementing and consistently improving the curriculum to meet the requirements of Early Years Foundation Stages. I strive to adapt a 'child centered' approach to learning to implement the EYFS framework, by allocating the available resources and to evaluating the progress of students against the standards set by the EYFS.
I am also responsible for reinforcing an overall school culture that nurtures a safe and healthy learning environment and provides improvement opportunities for the staff.
I regularly confer with students, teachers and parents to address and resolve any educational and behavioral issues.
As Head of Early Years, I introduced and implemented EarlyYearFoundationStage system in Arab Unity School successfully. I spearhead parent conferences, faculty meetings and field trips; I plan and implement entertaining and innovative methods of teaching.
The KHDA inspection team approved of and was impressed by our learning-teaching procedures as well as the assessment strategies. The Foundation Stage was rated as "good" by the inspection bureau, ministry of education, Dubai.
